Integrating Drama and Acting in Education

Emotion is one of the most powerful layers in the IGL schedule. Emotion is taught to students through drama and acting being mapped into 10 principle IGL emotions. The reason why drama is such an important layer is that it has a powerful association with memory. People tend remember events with which emotions are attached. Emotions also arouse curiosity about events and bring stories to life. They form an important part of an active imagination.

Every unique sequence of the 10 IGL principle emotions, when placed in a different order tell a different story. Teachers are expected to lead students into how to engage the story telling process. Since any numeric value will have the any of the ten emotions in a different sequence children can learn to use this process to enhance memory. The opportunity to act out each emotion and identify its relevant infograph and numeric value is a powerful layer teachers can help students exploit in their daily lives.

By learning to tell different stories using emotion, depending on the numeric sequence, children can use drama and acting to enhance their academic experience in any subject. They learn to act out each emotion and associate it with the required infograph. Eventually this supports memory and the cognitive experience that can be used to remember even complex numbers while building talent in drama and acting for use in plays and productions.
